Overview and Rationale
In this studio shoot I intend to photograph a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes for my second still life/ product image. I would like to create an image that would display the shoes in the best possible way and make people want to buy them. It will be necessary to look at how to put the image together as I will not have a model to wear the shoes. It will also be useful for me to look at lighting techniques to make the shoes stand out to people.
Evidence and Research
When looking for examples of how shoes are advertised and presented in magazines I found that the adverts show various extremes in which the shoes are photographed either as a main focus or as a part of a scene. The shoes when on there own seem either brightly lit or made to stand out. Whereas the shoes in part of a scene blend in more and aren’t as noticeable.
The photos which seem more successful are the ones which do not distract from the shoe itself, but make it stand out to the reader.
In the photos which seem less successful the picture is focused more on the scene around them than the actual shoe. This does not help promote the product to its full advantage. To improve these images the focus should remain on the shoe and anything added should be minimal or not distract from the shoe. Jimmy Choo photograph there shoes having the shoes just on there own so they stand out and theres no other distractions.
Aims and Objectives
My target audience for this particular image would be profession women who like to wear style to work, also women who read and enjoy fashion and fashion magazines.
Doing this project will help me to develop my skills and knowledge of advertising styles involving fashion products and also using the studio equipment needed for this shoot. I will photo the shoes in the same way Jimmy Choo photo theres, just having the shoes on there own so theres no distractions. Another thing i’ll make sure I do is show the Jimmy Choo label inside of the shoe, this seems very important in all there images they use to advertise, so I will try and also do this in my images.
On the day I will need with me the shoes that I will be using, this will help me create the right kind of image I need to advertise the product.
