When I took these pictures I took them looking at focusing on the foreground and then focusing on the background, and just generally tried focusing and experimenting on different things within the pictures. I used the Nikon D3100 to take all these pictures. The pictures on this blog seem to look better quality if you click on them to see them full size.
For this first picture I used a aperture of f4.3 and a shutter speed of 1/13. I think this worked really well because you can see the texture of the shoe clearly at the front and then it goes into a more faded background.
f4.9
1/125
On this picture I used an aperture of f5.3 and shutter speed of 1/160. I really like how parts of the flower stand out to you and look nice and crisp. Also how you can see the detail and texture of the leaves and petals, while the background isn't in focus but you can still tell whats there. This produced a shallow depth of field.
f5.6
1/249
With these next two images I used an aperture of f6 and shutter speed of 1/125.

These two images I used an aperture of f6.9 and shutter speed of 1/125. On both these images I like how i've captured the detail of the flower.
For this next selection of images I used an aperture of f7.4 and shutter speed of 1/125 all of these images show a shallow depth of field. I love the brightness of the pictures of the pink flowers and how you can see each tiny individual one.
f8.3
1/400
For both these images I used an aperture of f8.6 and shutter speed of 1/125.
f8.9
1/125
In these next two images the bright colours really stand out and I like how you can really see the detail on the bee and how its collecting pollen from the small flowers, and also see how in both its a shallow depth of field. I used an aperture of f10 and shutter speed of 1/125 in these pictures.
For these images I used an aperture of f10.3 and shutter speed of 1/125. In the first picture I think its really interesting how you can see all the bright drops of water that look like there sparkling because of the sun, and how each individual drop stands out.
For these two images I used an aperture of f10.3 and shutter speed of 1/320.
f5.6
1/13
f4.9

All of these images show and give an example of foreground focus.
In this next set of images they show focusing on the background.
f10.3

f7.4

For this image I used a aperture of f5.6 and shutter speed of 1/1999 I really like the lighting of the image and composition.

Taking all these pictures and doing this depth of field assignment has helped me understand it a lot more and helped me using the camera changing the apertures, shutter speeds and ISO's.
